How can I help you as a couple?

Unhappy relationships and marriages are marked by

• Here-we-go-again conversations and arguments
• Repetitive, go-nowhere patterns of criticism, defensiveness, and withdrawal
• Intense and absorbing negative feelings

I use emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFT) to help you and your partner

Identify and change negative patterns of communicating
• Relate to one another in more satisfying and productive ways
• Create a relationship that is strong, happy, and close

EFT is one of only three approaches to couple therapy that research studies have shown to be effective. Outcome studies of EFT show that about three quarters of distressed couples feel happy with their relationships after participating in EFT.

I am certified at the highest possible level in EFT (as a practitioner and a supervisor).
I was trained by Dr Sue Johnson (one of the originators of EFT). My 4 years of training with Dr Johnson, included working as a couples therapist EFT outcome (e.g., I worked as a therapist on studies that showed that EFT was effective for couples with chronically ill children, couples with low sexual desire, and couples whose relationships were lacking in intimacy).
